Enroll Today! The Preschool Program is designed for children 4 to 5 years old and they DO need to be potty-trained. We offer Kindergartner pickup at Reedville and Hazeldale elementary schools currently with an option to pick up from other local schools in the future. Our preschool program features a small class size, a state approved curriculum that is adjusted to add a challenge for our overachievers. We take monthly field trips and offer lots of hands-on learning. Take the online tour OR Schedule a personal tour today! Days and Times Our program is very flexible for parents. You can schedule 2 or more days per week - just let us know what days are best for you and we will check availability. Class times during the summer We only offer full time care. Since there is no balancing with an afterschool child during the summer, parents must book at least an 8 hour day for the days of the week that they select. Class times during the school year Part-Time is 5 hours a day from 8:30 am to 1:30pm Kindergarten Half Days Most local schools have a half day schedule (M-F from 8am to 11am). If your child will be attending Hazeldale Elementary and can ride the bus, we will walk them out when the bus is coming and greet them in the afternoon. The bus stops at our driveway. Half day schedule pickup at other schools may be available if we have 3 or more Kinders from the same school that need to be picked up. Please note that if your child is a half day child, you will need to pay for the full 8 hours since having a child in the morning from 8-11am is not usually possible. Exciting Days Filled with Education Our fall preschool program offers your child a wonderful array of activities to physically engage cognitive and foster development.
The Curriculum Check out the 2008 curriculum overview We use an age-appropriate, state approved curriculum and adjust as needed to challenge our overachievers. The curriculum offers theme oriented weeks throughout the school year that get children excited about learning and exploring. Each week of fun includes arts and crafts, cooking, sports and fitness, drama, water and sand activities, sign-a-longs, story times, and learning centers. There will be weekly special events, mini-books, educational worksheets, story books, and projects that go along with each theme. Focus on the Basics Language and literacy are developed using the multi-sensory Spalding approach and high quality literature. We use the same Zoophonics approach that is used in the Hillsboro school district to introduce the letter shapes and sounds. We have a letter of the week and focus on the basic letter sounds, how we use letters and how letter combinations make up words. This is the foundation for literacy proficiency. Math concepts are taught in everything we dosongs, circle activities, and in one-on-one math building time. Music is an important bridge in education for children. It provides a lasting connection to a unit and the concepts we learn. We use morning songs at circle with words and pictures to connect the theme to a child's experience. All the songs throughout the year are kept in a binder and each day our Welcome Song Teacher (this is a student job) can pick a song from as far back in the year as they desire. This rekindles the educational memories and keeps the themes alive in their mind throughout the whole year. Physical activity is key to a child's ability to focus and learn. Our day is planned so children have several opportunities to be active and move large muscle groups throughout the day. Their ability to focus is greatly increased and their overall mood is greatly enhanced by the endorphins that "chase" games create. Relaxation time allows children time to recuperate from stress that the social and educational environment can cause. It allows them to rejuvenate their mind and body - to concentrate better in the afternoon and evening. We do not make children nap. Rather, we give them a comfy spot and the choice of 3 books. They decide if they are tired enough to sleep. The state requires that we provide quiet time, so we have a 45 minute RELAXATION time for children where soft music and low lighting help to soothe their body and mind. After which, non nappers can choose coloring, reading, puzzles or other quiet activities until the napper are up. Our Philosophy on Education Our preschool program is founded on the belief that learning at its best is collaborative, interactive and experiential. Children learn through play by exploring, creating and inquiry. Our teachers strive to create a developmentally appropriate
environment that fosters and extends childrens understanding of
conceptual knowledge and develops both physical and social skills, key
to the age and stage of each child. A Safe and Nurturing, Family Environment Our small classes makes learning a much more one-on-one experience for the children. The play areas, learning areas, and nap areas are all designed to encourage educational play and to be cozy. |
