We offer a very fun program for children between Kindergarten and 5th grade.

Mondays are extra special because we do a "GAME NIGHT". Children participate in educational game play and win small prizes that are theirs to keep. They look forward to game night and it is a great way for them to get into the week ahead of them.

Fridays we have "MOVIE NIGHT". The children get popcorn, comfy bean bag chairs and a movie that corresponds to our weekly theme if possible. We have multiple "theaters" or rooms that play different movies.

6:45 am to 7:45 am - Free Play

Children have an opportunity to relax, read a book, play a board game, explore our learning centers or do a simple art activity like drawing or writing.

7:45 to 8:15 am - Drop off Children

We drop the children off at school on time, but not too early. At the moment, we are dropping children off at Reedville and Hazeldale Elementaryonly, but are open to pickup and drop off at Butternut Elementary and Arrol Hassel Elementary as well.

2:30 pm to 3:00 pm - Pick-up from School

After school, we meet the children outside of the school. Each child is greeted warmly and with a true interest how each child's day was. Some schools have rotating or varying hours and we are always aware of the time your child will be released. We leave padding in our pickup times so that children do not have to wait for us upon release from school if at all possible. Transportation is provided by Bright Start Staff only. 3:00pm - 3:30pm - Homework

Children complete their homework and a staff person is available to assist them if they need help. We encourage them to finish what they can in the 30 minutes and when their homework is done, they can choose a free play activitity. For afterschool kids this might be playing educational games on the computer, researching an exciting topic online, playing board games with friends, playing indoor basketball or balancign on our indoor balance beam, creating an artistic masterpiece or just plain reading in a comfortable chair.

3:30pm to 4:00pm- Snack

We serve all the children snack between 3:30 and 3:45 depending on how quickly homework is completed. All snacks meet USDA food requirements and are generally not high in sugar (with the exception of birthdays and holidays).

4:00pm to 5:00pm-Centers

Centers allow children to explore a variety of activities at their own pace.

They may include:

• SENSORY (playdough, water, sand, ooblick)
• ART (creating a card or a painting)
• COMPUTER (educational online puzzles, games, and theme based websites selected by the teacher) see a sample
• MANIPULATIVES (counting bears, peg boards, blocks, shape boards)
• MATH (folder games, floor games, pocket charts)
• LITERACY (comfortable reading areas, folder games, memory games, bingo)
• and much more!

5:00pm - 5:30pm Active Play and Pickup

Active play is great for the end of the day because it is easy to leave, unlike a project or a board game. Active play might include a dance party, "simon says", outside play or a parachute game.
