Fun with Science!
I love science and always have, so my winter tip for parents is a
science one.
Children love to explore water and ice. Fill up some ice cube trays
or a bowl with water. Add sparkles, food coloring, even small toys.
Freeze overnight. The next day, put the ice on a cookie sheet and
give them a cup of warm water and a turkey baster. What an
opportunity to teach about solids and liquids, colors or cause and
effect! Whatever you want.
Another variation of this is to give them ice cubes and a salt shaker.
It entertains me every time! Watch the nifty little spikes emerge.
Try stacking ice cubes with out salt and then try again after you
salt them. So much fun!!
