What's so different about Sunflower Preschool?
Many children are capable and eager to learn way more than the typical 2.5 hour preschools offer then. Our goal is to always challenge those who are eager to move on to the next stage.

Talk WITH your child
Most children are quiet about their day when they get home. They go straight to playing with their toys or their siblings. Parents tend to leave it at that.
If you want your child to be excited about their education and what they are learning, you MUST get them to open up. When kids realize that parents want and expect them to learn their attitude at school will change. When they feel that school is VERY IMPORTANT, they will take pride in their school and their education.
To get your child to open up, try these simple tips:
- Know what your child is learning about
At Bright Start, we send newsletters home so parents know what we are learning about. Ask your child what they learned about. Ask them how to sing a song on the newsletter. Take them to the library to get a book on the list. Show them you are proud of what they learned. The preschool classes at Bright Start draw a different picture on the back of their Morning Job (the one with their name on it) - take a look at the picture and ask them what they drew a picture of. INTERACTION is important.
- Get involved in the class
We have had parents come in an draw pictures for the class (an artist), volunteer on fieldtrips, teach the kids how to bake cookies with the class, present slides that relate to a unit, read a theme book to the class and more. Showing you care about their class will make them excited to show you what they do every day.
- Have them practice at home
The basics - letters, numbers, colors and shapes - should be reinforced where ever possible. The kids may be resistant to show you what they know at first , but the more you quiz them, the more pride they will take in learning. MOST IMPORTANTLY, have them write their name at home for you. Show them that this is something you are very interested in seeing them do. Ask them to write their name while you are waiting at the bank or before dinner.
